1962 - Roy Orbison’s album ‘Dream Baby’ entered the UK charts.
1968 - The Fillmore East opened its doors in New York City. It closed in June of 1971.
1971 - Jimi Hendrix’s “Star Spangled Banner” was broadcasted on Radio Hanoi in Vietnam. The tape was sent by political activist Abbie Hoffman.
1973 - Paul McCartney was arrested after police found marijuana growing at his Scotland farm. Sir Paul claimed a fan gave him the seeds and that he was unaware of what they were. He was fined $240.
1973 - The Grateful Dead’s Ron “Pigpen” McKernan died of a stomach hemorrhage.
1974 – Discovered by Jimmy Page, Bad Company played their debut show in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. Fronted by singer Paul Rodgers, the band went on to record such hits as “Feel Like Makin’ Love” and “Bad Company,” for Led Zepplein’s Swan Song record label.
1982 - Elton John embarked on a tour of New Zealand.
1987 - At a show in Detroit, singer/songwriter Bob Seger told the audience that it was his last tour. However, Seger had a change of heart as he returned shortly afterward to touring.
