1961 - Bob Dylan made his debut performance in a concert hall at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Fifty people were in attendance, paying two dollars each for admission.

1970 - Bob Dylan recorded his song "George Jackson" in tribute to the black militant who had been killed in a California prison shootout.

1973 - Pink Floyd and Soft Machine held a benefit concert for Robert Wyatt, a founding member of Soft Machine. Wyatt had been paralyzed earlier that year.

1974 - Elton John released  his first Greatest Hits album.

1977 - "The Last Waltz," a concert film based on the Band’s Final concert, which took place on Thanksgiving 1976, premiered in New York City. The show featured a variety of guests, including Paul Butterfield, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Wood and Neil Young.

1978 - Greg Reeves sued his former band mates in Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young for $1 million, claiming he was due unpaid back royalties.

1978 - Boston performed their first concert in the Massachusetts capitol.

1978 - The Talking Heads released "Take Me To The River."

1982 - The Talking Heads’ Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth welcomed a baby boy.

1992 – Along with songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, Elton John inked a $39 million publishing contract with Warner-Chappell music.

2002 - Journals, a book containing letters and diary entries of the late Kurt Cobain, was released.
