1969 - Doors singer Jim Morrison was locked up after “interfering with the flight of an intercontinental aircraft and public drunkenness." However, charges against the Lizard King were eventually dropped.

1970 - John Lennon released the album Plastic Ono Band, which coincidentally enough, was also the name of an album released by Yoko Ono on the very same day.

1970 - Bantam Books published the book Tarantula, by Bob Dylan.

1972 - The Allman Brothers’ Berry Oakley was killed at the age of 24 in a motorcycle accident.

1976 - KISS released their Rock and Roll Over album.

1989 - Melissa Etheridge and Joe Cocker performed for jubilant Germans after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

1997 - Metallica performed a free concert in Philadelphia.
