7) Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives.
(a) Initiative: Internship Program
Employment Unit stations have a college internship program designed to assist students in acquiring skills needed for employment in the broadcast industry.
Employment Unit Morning Show Producer coordinates and manages the interns. Interns are recruited by contacting local colleges and universities. The interns learn to screen calls and help manage the flow of the morning show. They are exposed and become proficient in AssisPro Telos, VoxPro, the digital logger RCS and board operations.
For the period there were 4 interns. The schools and dates are below.

(b) Initiative: Job Listing
Employment Unit participates in an outreach effort by listing upper level job openings in the job bank of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. Employment Unit posts these positions to a website that is a service of the National Alliance of State Broadcasters Association.
(c) Initiative: On-air Recruitment
Employment Unit stations broadcast announcements stating that we are an equal opportunity employer and inviting participation in our recruitment efforts by organizations that represent various members of the community who might be seeking new employment. If any of those organizations is interested in receiving job vacancy notices, they are asked to contact us.
(d) Initiative: Attending Job Fairs
Employment Unit stations participated in a local job fair. The Business Manager and Music Director attended the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Winter Institute held on the University of Georgia campus in Athens Georgia on February 11, 2009.
(e) Initiative: Events sponsored by educational institutions
Employment Unit Midday Talent on WKHX spoke at the University of Georgia on February 23, 2009. She served on a panel who discussed careers and answered questions from music business majors in the Terry College of Business.
Employment Unit Business Manager and Music Director served on a roundtable discussion for the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Winter Institute at the Grady College of Mass Communication and Journalism on the University of Georgia Campus on February 11, 2009. They spoke about careers in radio as well as answered questions from students.
Employment unit Midday talent on WKHX participates in a mentoring program sponsored by Atlanta Women in TV and Radio. Currently a senior at Georgia State University has been paired with our talent and that student participates in monthly activities with us. The activities include resume preparation, career coaching and job shadowing.
